Polygon | Triangle | Quadrilateral | Pentagon | Hexagon | Heptagon | Octagon | Nonagon | Decagon |
Sides | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
Angles | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
Vertices | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
Note: polygons with more than 10 sides are usually called an “n-gon”. For example a 15-gon has 15 sides.
Polygon: A closed plane figure formed by three or more line segments *Regular polygons are polygons whose sides and angles are all congruent. *Irregular polygons are polygons whose sides and angles are NOT all congruent.
Side: Line that forms a polygon.
Angle: A figure formed by two rays that meet at a common endpoint.
Vertices (vertex): The point where two or more rays meet; the point of intersection of two sides of a polygon; the point of intersection of three (or more edges) of a solid figure; the top point of a cone; the plural of vertex is vertices.
