Polyhedrons

Polyhedrons are 3-dimensional shapes made up of many polygons. polyhedrons have a “first” and “last” name. they get their first name from the base shape, and their last name from whether or not they are prisms or pyramids.
Pyramids are polyhedrons whose faces are all triangles and meet at one vertex.
Prisms are polyhedrons whose base is reflected.

How to name a Polyhedron:
Step 1: Name the base shape
Step 2: Tell whether it is a pyramid or prism.

Example #2

 FACES, EDGES, AND VERTICES

polyhedron cube

This Square Prism has…

8 Vertices
6 Faces
12 Edges

Euler’s Formula

Faces+Vertices=Edges+2
