Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions

A mixed number is made up of a whole number and a fraction.
example:  2 \frac{4}{5}

the 2 is the whole number, and the  \frac{4}{5}  is the fraction

Using the example above, we can rename a mixed number to an improper fraction by:
1: Multiplying the denominator by the whole number. 5 x 2 = 10
2.Add the product with the numerator. 10 + 4 = 14
3. The sum now becomes your new numerator.  \frac{14}{?}
4. The denominator stays the same.  \frac{14}{5}

So  2\frac{4}{5}  as an improper fraction is  \frac{14}{5}
