Exponents show repeated multiplication. Exponents represent how many times a base number is multiplied by itself.

Example:
5^{3} (5 is the base number and 3 is the exponent) or Five to the power of three is the same as saying 5\cdot 5\cdot 5 which is equal to 125

You can write exponents in different ways too!
Example: 2^{4}

Exponent Form: 2^{4}
Expanded Form: 2\cdot 2\cdot 2\cdot 2
Standard Form: 16
Word form: Two to the fourth power; Two to the power of four

*Any number raised to the power of 1 is equal to itself
i.e.  3^{1} = 3

*Any number raised to the power of zero is equal to 1
i.e.  3^{0} = 1
